Vizcaya PLGU gives food aid to brgys
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 7 (PIA) – The provincial government is in the process of giving financial assistance to its 275 barangays to help villagers in coping with the adverse effects of the past Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board Member Victor Gines, president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) said the assistance was approved by Governor Carlos Padilla through their Resolution No. 4 series of 2020.
The resolution urged all barangay officials of the province to utilize the grant from the provincial government for the food allocation to identified barangay residents who were not able to receive monetary support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
“Barangay residents who were able to receive their SAP from DSWD and MLGUs can make use of this assistance for other affected sectors such as our frontline health workers and others who rendered their work during the ECQ,” Gines said.
He added that the current financial assistance for the barangays represents the third tranche of assistance given by the provincial government during the ECQ period.
The PLGU assistance were given to the 41 percent of the total number of families in the province who were disqualified from the SAP. (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
