Trip na Trip hosts Uma Khouny and Katkat de Castro to come up with a travel book
With the show on its third year, Trip na Trip has gone to so many places and provinces in the country that a book chronicling the sights and sounds of the Philippines seems the logical next step.
From beaches to mountains to the most secluded islands, the Trip na Trip crew has been there and seen it. And now, their personal accounts of all their escapades will all be put onto paper in a still-untitled travel guide. “Mas close kami ni Katkat kaya kami ang nag-conceptualize. Nandoon din sila Jayson [Gainza] at Franzen [Fajardo] pero mas close kami ni Katkat,” shares Uma.
Being one of Pinoy Big Brother Season One’s housemates, Uma feels that he is even luckier than Sam Milby to have landed the Trip na Trip gig. “I think ako na ang pinakamasuwerteng artista more than Sam Milby. Kasi nalilibot ko ang buong Pilipinas. Look, Israeli ako and I’m one of the few na naiikot ang Pilipinas. Three years na kami sa Trip na Trip at lahat ng butas ng Pilipinas e napasok na namin.”
Of all their travels, Uma fell in love with the beauty and serenity of Batanes. “I love Batanes. It’s just you, the mountains, and the beaches!” And one thing that really perks him up is the irresistible delicacies that they serve in every province they go to. “Lalaki talaga ang tiyan ko, e paano, masarap palagi ang handa sa mga probinsiya.”
With a regular hosting job that eats up most of his time, does he still have time for a love life? The answer was a quick “no.” “I don’t believe in love. Love is for a few months lang then wala na. Ayoko masaktan so I prefer to have friends and live without love,” he candidly shares. At 26, Uma also revelaed that he has no plans yet of going back to Israel.
As for Katkat who happens to be daughter of the country’s Vice President, will she follow in the footsteps of her dad and run for public office? Uma confesses that he doesn’t want his co-host become a politician. “Ayaw ko siyang tumakbo sa 2010. Kasi mawawalan ako ng kainuman, party, and stuff. She’s smart and a good person pero ayaw ko [siyang tumakbo.]”
Trip na Trip airs every Friday night following Bandila. For June 27, they’ll be featuring their wakeboarding adventure at CWC Camarines Sur.
