CALOOCAN CITY, July 25 (PIA) — Motorists are advised of the traffic adjustments that will take place along Elliptical Road particularly at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and corner of North Avenue next week to give way to the on-going construction of the MRT-7 Project.

The announcement was made by the DOTR MRT-7 Traffic Management Task Force and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in coordination with the Quezon City Local Government Unit.

“At Elliptical Road-Commonwealth Avenue, the three curved lanes going to North Avenue and Visayas Avenue will be transferred to inner lanes on July 28, 2020,” it said.

“Meanwhile, starting July 31, 2020, vehicles will pass through curved lanes at Elliptical Road-North Avenue as the current construction fence at the side of Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) will be moved towards the middle lanes and the construction fence at the corner of North Avenue will be pushed back,” it added.

“Motorists are advised to follow the yellow solid lane marking and avoid swerving to prevent accidents and reduce traffic slow down,” it furthered.

The Task Force explained the adjustments will allow the contractor to complete the portion of the tunnel guideway going to and coming from the Quezon Memorial Circle Station, which is an underground station.

The said portion of the tunnel guideway is target to finish in November this year. After which, the Elliptical Road is expected to return back to its original road condition.

As of June 2020, the 22-kilometer Project is at its 58.95% completion. It will have 14 stations starting from North Avenue up to City of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan and is expected to serve 300,000 to 850,000 passengers per day. (PIA NCR)
