TESDA launches dev’t projects in NPA-influenced barangay
STO. NINO, Cagayan, July 27 (PIA) – – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) region 2 has already launched an organic farm, one of its six development projects at barangay Balanni this town, an identified conflict-infested barangay.
Josephine N. Cabrera of TESDA Cagayan said the projects are part of the development interventions influenced barangays as chair of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) under Executive Order No. 70 which institutionalizes the whole of nation approach to End Local Communits Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
She said the projects is part of bannering the TESDA 2’s “Adopt an IP Community” program which is also the flagship program of PRLEC for the region which is a convergence effort and development intervention.
As a component of the project, she said there were 25 Indigenous Peoples that were identified beneficiaries to undergo training in Organic Agriculture Production NC II beginning August 3 to September 5, 2020 at the Lasam Institute of Technology, the training provider.
“The project’s goal is to establish the Balanni Organic Farm that shall sustain the food supply and eventually provide livelihood to the residents of the barangay,” she said.
She added that the cluster member agencies will provide Capability Build Up Programs like trainings on entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
The pre-launching activity was also witnessed by representatives of PRLEC member agencies from the AFP, DA, Local Government Unit of Sto. Niño and the Barangay Officials of Balanni. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
