Taguig places 2 areas in Lower Bicutan under ECQ
PARANAQUE CITY, June 18 (PIA) — The city government of Taguig placed Purok 5 and 6 in Barangay Lower Bicutan under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on June 17, Wednesday until July 1, 2020.
Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano approved the recommendation of City Epidemiology Disease Surveillance Unity (CEDSU) to implement a localized lockdown to help curb the spread of novelcorona virus (COVID-19) and ensure the safety of the residents.
The Taguig CEDSU recommended the measure due to the increase of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area.
Prior to the implementation of the localized lockdown, Cayetano met with Taguig City Chief of Police Celso Rodriguez, Lower Bicutan Barangay Captain Roel Pacayra and its kagawads, and Dr. Glenda Latorre from the barangay health center, to give his final directives and ensure the smooth implementation of the lockdown.
Residents in the areas are not allowed to leave their homes. Purchase of essential goods will be allowed provided they show Taguig Unified Quarantine Pass.
Workers of establishments allowed to operate under GCQ are also allowed to leave their homes.
Cayetano assures residents that the imposed ECQ is a part of the city’s strategy in battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Parte ito ng stratehiya natin , para matukoy ang mga may sakit, para sila ay ma-quarantine maalagaan at mapagaling,” Cayetano said.
As of June 18, 2020, Taguig City has recorded a total of 606 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city. There have been 3,751 suspected cases, 21 record of fatality, and 120 recoveries since January 27, 2020. (Taguig PIO/PIA-NCR)
