March 14, 2021 Uncategorized

CITY  OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 22 (PIA) — The city government rolls-out  its fourth  wave of  food distribution in continuing effort to provide relief to families affected by the community quarantine imposed due to the   COVID-19 crisis.

City Planning and Development Officer Maricel Kiley said the aid is intended to all 35,000 households in the city’s 42 barangays, including families above the marginalized threshold who are also affected.

This time, the aid package includes hygiene kits for the health and sanitation need of beneficiaries

Tabuk City personnel distribute family food packs to families who lost their income due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Because of the adverse economic impact of the lockdown since March when people are restricted from engaging in productive activities, the city government has allocated a total of P105M for food assistance, Kiley disclosed.

The money is derived from the city government’s quick response fund –P7.5M, calamity reserve fund – P17.5M, supplemental fund – P20M and Bayanihan fund –P60M. Another P6M is allocated for hygiene kits as non-food items.

Agnes Madriaga, wife of tricycle driver, regards the family food pack assistance as timely and of big help now that her husband can not earn for the family’s daily subsistence.

In a related report, the city maintains support to frontliners deployed at the border check points situated in barangays Callagdao, Dupag, Masablang, Talaca and Nambaran (Spring) for COVID-19 screening tests to people entering Tabuk.

As the city remains COVID-19 free and is under the extended GCQ until May 31, residents are told to observe health and safety protocols at all times. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
