Sorsogon City Police Station, Best City Police Station 2020 Bicolwide
SORSOGON CITY, June 27, 2020 (PIA) – Sorsogon City Police Station has been chosen as the Best City Police Station for 2020 in the Bicol region by the PNP Regional Best Performing PNP Station selection committee for the year 2020. This was revealed by Sorsogon City PNP Chief of Police, Lt. Colonel Benito E. Dipad, and said such award will be given during the scheduled awarding ceremony at the Camp General Simeon Ola in August 2020.
According to Dipad, the award is the prize given not only to the men and women of the City PNP but to all the people of Sorsogon City for their support and cooperation with the peace and order programs of the PNP Sorsogon City. “The award does not only partake of the presence of PNP personnel in the key areas of the city but also includes the vigilance of the people in reporting various violation of local as well as national laws which defines trust and confidence of the public to the PNP,” he added.
To date, the City PNP is proud to announce their accomplishments in the last five months having achieved a 100% crime solution efficiency. This highest achievement rate includes their immediate response to the public concern on peace and order that needs prompt actions and solutions.
They also reported that since January this year, out of the 64 barangays in the city, twenty three (23) are already drug cleared barangays while five (5) more barangays are now being reviewed by the members of the regional oversight committee of the PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 5 for confirmation for possible clearance.
According to Lt. Col. Dipad, he has introduced the implementation of anti-drug programs that he personally designed to gradually clear all barangays from all types of illegal drug activities. He introduced the clearing of at least 5 barangays every month following the guidelines from PDEA and it was doing well until the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic that affects its implementation since they had to shift their focus on COVID response programs.
He likewise encouraged those persons identified to have involvement in illegal drug activities to cooperate with their barangay officials and to continue to attend meetings scheduled for them as one of the requisites to clear more barangays from illegal drug connections.
Aside from this effort, Sorsogon City PNP has also continues to implement their response efforts on COVID-19 pandemic, since the implementation of community quarantine, by providing assistance at the various checkpoints and mobile patroling during the curfew hours in the City. (MBA-PIA V/Sorsogon)
