Santiago City records new COVID-19 positive case today
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, June 21 (PIA) – – The Department of Health (DOH) region 2 has confirmed the 48th Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive case of Cagayan Valley region today.
In a press statement from the Health Education and Promotions Unit (HEPU), the patient tagged as ‘Patient 48’ is a 63-year-old female from Santiago City.
Llexter Guzman, HEPU officer, said the patient doesn’t have travel history nor exposure to any positive case, however, in a statement issued by the LGU Santiago City, the patient was one of those who underwent mass testing which was conducted to all AGAP and Sweet Club members of the city last June 18.
“Aside from her history of hypertension, the patient doesn’t have any symptoms. She was brought to Southern Isabela Medical Center for immediate medical attention,” Guzman said.
Guzman said local officials, health officials, the police and the officials from the Department of the Interior and Local Government are now conducting contact tracing of the possible close contacts of the patient.
He added that the officials are further tracing the possible source of the virus taking into consideration that the patient has no travel history or exposure to any positive case. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
