Quirino farmers get farm machineries from Philmech
CABARROGUIS, Quirino, July 21 (PIA)—Around six farmers’ cooperatives here received farm machineries from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture that is responsible for spreading the development of postharvesting.
In Cabarroguis, the Susong Dalaga SWISA, Inc of Gundaway got one unit Four Wheel Tractor, one Hand Tractor and one Rice Combine Harvester and the Mangandingay – Dumatata Irrigators Association, Inc. received one unit Four Wheel Tractor and two units Hand Tractor.
In Saguday, the Fugao Green Valley Irrigators Association, Inc. got one unit Four Wheel Tractor and 1 Rice Mill and Sallajo IA, Inc. – 1 Unit Four Wheel Tractor at 1 Rice Precision Seeder
In Diffun, the Tarangao Irrigators Association, Inc of San Isidro got 1 Unit Four Wheel Tractor at 2 Units Hand Tractor. Ganano Communal IA, Inc. – 1 Unit Four Wheel Tractor, Hand Tractor, at Rice Combine Harvester.
PhilMech Director Baldwin Jallorina said the project was funded through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund, a program that help farmer increase their yield, productivity and income, as well as making sure that they can compete with neighboring countries.

Director Jallorina also said Quirino province is the first recipient of the farm machineries from the RCEF Mechanization Program because of the unity of the farmers which he said one of the basis in choosing the beneficiaries.
“Tatta, ibagbaga kon tapno itultuloy yo ti urnos yo, ket nu mausar to a nasayaat dagita nga makinaria, manayunan to pay apo dagiti maited kadakayo a mannalon,” Jallorina also said adding that the farmers will be monitored as to how they utilize and take good care of the farm machineries.
Jallorina urged the farmers to take good care of the farm machineries given to them and have them checked by farm equipment mechanics if needed.
“Saan tayo koma met nga iyimot kadagiti kakadwa tayo a mannalon ta nasaysayaat nu ad-ado met laeng iti pakausaran na,” Jallorina said as he expressed optimism that the farm machineries will further strengthen the camaraderie among the farmers.
Director Jallorina also urged the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the Municipal Agriculture Offices to help the PhilMech in identifying the farm machineries that are very much needed by the farmers. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino).
