Pasig LGU installs bike racks in public buildings
PASIG CITY, July 25 (PIA) – The City Government of Pasig has installed bike racks to help the city’s bike commuters secure their parked bicycles.
On his Facebook page, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said that 60 bike racks have been installed in public buildings in the city for convenient bicycle parking.
“Mula ECQ hanggang GCQ, dumami ang nagbibisikleta. Patuloy nating isusulong ang iba’t ibang uri ng sasakyan,” said Mayor Vico.
According to the local chief, the bike rack costs around P15,000 pesos per rack or P2,500 per bicycle slot.
“To get an idea of how cheap this is, a carpark building costs at least 600,000 pesos per car space,” he said.
“Including building maintenance, a parking space for a car easily costs 300x more than for a bike,” Sotto added.
The city government, thru the Pasig Transport has also deployed bikes as an alternative ride for the city’s medical workers and frontliners. (PIA-NCR)
