Pasig LGU delivers aid to senior citizens
PASIG CITY, June 17 (PIA) – The CityGovernment of Pasig has started the house-to-house distribution of assistance to senior citizens of the city.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday personally joined the team from the city’s hospice and social welfare and development office, and handed over diapers, milks and medicine supplies good for three months.
Aside from the basic needs, the city government also provided the elderlies their pension, for those approved by the DSWD, food coupons worth P1,000, and food packs.
Mayor Sotto also said that the city government plans to expand the beneficiaries of the city’s hospice program which is currently over 2,400. Sotto also cited that most of the senior citizens are either bedridden or have difficulty in walking.
However, he noted the delay of the city’s Universal Health Care Program due to COVID-19.
“Higit sa 2,400 ang benepisyaryo ng Hospice at i-eexpand pa natin ito (na-delay lang ang programang Universal Health Care ng Lungsod dahil sa Covid-19). Karamihan sa kanila ay bedridden o hirap nang maglakad.” (Pasig City PIO/PIA-NCR)
