NIPSC agri studes to benefit from DA livestock program
ILOILO CITY, Aug. 1 (PIA) — Agriculture students from Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) Barotac Viejo campus will greatly benefit from the Livestock Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Western Visayas.
Dr. Eduardo Octavio, Jr., NIPSC Campus Administrator, said that the school recently received 10 heads of caracows from DA-6, as part of the agency’s livelihood assistance.
“The 10 heads of caracows are such big help for the school’s agriculture students in terms of instruction, especially for those taking BS Agriculture major in Animal Science,” he said.
He said the aim for food sufficiency in this time of crisis and pandemic is the utmost goal of every agency and institution.
“The 10 caracows are also intended for breeding and dairy,” he said.
Caracow is a sexually mature female carabao that has given birth at least once and with age of three years old and above.
Meanwhile, Dr. Maita Gonzales, Dean of NIPSC College of Agriculture, commended DA-6 for their continuous grants extended to the school.
She added that the aim for agricultural development, as part of their student enhancement program and training, like castration and artificial insemination, will be hugely accomplished. (LTP/DA-RAFID6/PIA-Iloilo/Thumbnail Photo courtesy of DA-RAFID)
