NFA Camiguin resumes rice sales
CAMIGUIN, July 21 (PIA)–Camiguingnons can now avail themselves of the government subsidized National Food Authority (NFA) rice as NFA Camiguin resumes sales through its authorized retailers’ outlets inside the public markets, July 20.
Government offices can also start availing of NFA rice as rice allowance for their employees under EO 51 s. 1998.
There are other outlet classifications but for now, throughout Region 10, ITMs in Camiguin are the only privileged outlets to retail NFA rice at a weekly allocation of 20 bags each.
In effect of Republic Act 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law, NFA Camiguin paused distribution to its authorized rice retail outlets, February 2020 and has been selling only through local government units (LGUs) and concerned government agencies.
Citing Camiguin as a distribution and non-palay procurement area and after considering NFA’s new mandate of buffer stocking for calamities and emergencies, Regional Director John Robert R. Hermano instructed the province to restart sales as the lean months of August and September are approaching.
