Muntinlupa LGU places another community in LCQ
QUEZON CITY, June 2 (PIA) — The Muntinlupa Local Government Unit (LGU) has placed another community under localized community quarantine due to increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi through Executive Order 22 s. 2020 ordered a 15-day Enhanced Localized Community Quarantine at Block 35 Excess Lot in Soldiers’ Hills Village in Brgy. Putatan that started June 23, 12:00 p.m. until July 7, 11:59 a.m. The three roads leading to the community were also closed.
As of June 21, the City Health Office (CHO) has recorded 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area, one of the city’s highest among local communities, with 8 active cases and 2 recoveries. Results of swab tests of 8 probable cases are also being expected.
CHO has recorded clustering of cases in Block 35 Excess Lot, a congested community with 219 families. According to Muntinlupa PIO, the community has a narrow doubling time at 4.82 days, which refers to the number of days for local coronavirus cases to double in number, and high attack rate at 11.5 per 1,000 individuals.
While the LGU provides additional relief food packs and other basic supplies during the effectivity of the lockdown, the residents of the compound were also advised to buy food and non-food essentials.
Muntinlupa PIO added that the CHO will also conduct mass testing in the community and will intensify its detection, isolation, and treatment strategies.
Block 35 Excess Lot is the third community to be put under extreme localized quarantine in Muntinlupa. Other communities include Sitio Pagkakaisa Zone 3 Interior in Brgy. Sucat until June 26 and Morning Breeze Homes in Alabang from June 3 to 16.
Fresnedi asks for the cooperation of residents from Block 35 Excess Lot to observe health protocols such as frequent hand-washing, wearing of face masks, and physical distancing.
Furthermore, the LGU received a 40-bed quarantine facility from Benckiser Philippines Inc. to augment efforts in curbing COVID-19 in the City.(Muntinlupa PIO/PIA-NCR)
