Laging Handa Network Briefing tackles ‘Bayanihan’ spirit
OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, May 4 (PIA) – “From the time of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, the local government of Ipil town in Zamboanga Sibugay has already been strictly implementing various measures to remain COVID-19 free.”
This was disclosed by Mayor Anamel Olegarion of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay in an interview with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar over PIA-organized Laging Handa Network Briefing.
Mayor Olegario said that the “Bayanihan spirit” is very much alive among Ipileños in that they are very cooperative and supportive of the government’s efforts to fight COVID-19. The “stay-at-home” order, crfew and closing of borders have helped in keeping Ipil town COVID 19-free.
“Ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit nanatiling COVID-free yung Ipil at ang probinsya ng Zamboanga Sibugay dahil sa cooperation ng taong bayan, dedication ng frontliners at public officials down to barangay level,” she added.
The lady mayor also saw the importance of getting ready for any eventuality by securing the calamity fund. “We should prepare and set aside funding for calamity because we don’t know what will happen next,” she stressed.
Olegario also reiterated that “this is not the right time for politics; this is the time to help each other.”
Ipil is the center of commerce and government of Zamboanga Sibugay.
She appealed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its spokesperson, Director Irene Dumlao, to extend for at least four days the payout for SAP beneficiaries of the municipality’s 28 barangays. (SMRN/PIA MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL)
