SAN FERNANDO CITY, Aug. 2 (PIA) – As confirmatory swab test results were released on August 1, the provincial government of La Union recorded six new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Three patients were logged in Rosario, two were from San Juan, and one for Bauang.

Patients from Rosario include a 69-year-old female and a five-year old male, who are both manifesting symptoms, and an asymptomatic 69-year-old male.

All of them have travel history abroad.

According to Mayor Bellarmin Flores, though said patients were swabbed upon their arrival in Manila from London and yielded negative results, they were scheduled for another test as they went home in the municipality last July 26.

“While waiting for the test set on July 30, they had undergone home quarantine in their residence located at Purok 1 of Subusub village,” Flores stated.

Currently, they are admitted at the Rosario District Hospital.

Further, San Juan monitored two male patients ages 33 years old and 58 years old.

Both are from Tondo, Manila and working as construction laborers in Barangay Panicsican.

“They arrived in the municipality on July 27 and underwent RT-PCR tests on July 30,” Mayor Arturo Valdriz in a statement said.

Both are now under medication at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center here.

Lastly, a 62-year-old male resident of Barangay Central West of Bauang town tested positive for the virus.

He is currently admitted at the Lorma Hospital in this city.

These new recorded cases bring the total active cases of the province to 40. (JCR/AMB/CGRC/PIA La Union)
