Iloilo City ready to welcome LSIs
ILOILO CITY, July 21 (PIA) — The Iloilo City Government is ready to accommodate locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who are residents of Iloilo City, following the lifting of the suspension of travel of LSIs to Region 6 last week.
In a media release, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that there are adequate quarantine facilities in Iloilo City for returning LSIs.
“We cannot avoid LSIs going back to their hometowns,” he said, adding that the city has an inventory of 500 beds to serve as quarantine facilities pending the results of the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
He said identified quarantine facilities include the Jubilee Hall, Iloilo Central Elementary School, La Paz Elementary School. Baluarte Elementary School, Mandurriao Elementary School, and Mabini Elementary School.
Meanwhile, Treñas said that the city government is doing its best to jumpstart the local economy amidst the current pandemic.
“We are aware that the virus is still there but as long as we observe the minimum health standards, we will be safe,” he said.
He added that the concerned departments of the city government are efficiently handling the return of LSIs and repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers who continue to arrive in Iloilo City. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
