Guv seeks LSI special lane for COVID testing
ILOILO CITY, July 23 (PIA) — Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. has requested for a special lane devoted for locally stranded individuals (LSIs) returning to Iloilo P rovince for their reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing.
“Ï lobbied with the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) to provide a special lane for LSIs to hasten the decongestion of quarantine facilities and they agreed,” he said.
He said that the provincial government has turned over the RNA extraction machine to WVMC to boost the testing capacity of the sub-national laboratory.
The machine worth P1.950-million will be temporarily lent by the province to WVMC to help shorten the turnaround time for test results.
Defensor said that the provincial government shall also lend its RT-PCR machine to WVMC.
Both machines are supposed to be for use of the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo, which is eyed as another COVID-19 testing laboratory in Region 6.
He added that construction of the laboratory is ongoing. (JSC/LTP/PICAO/PIA6 Iloilo)
