DOH CALABARZON assures Ibaan residents’ health & safety from COVID-19
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, May 26 (PIA) –Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo has allayed fear and panic among residents of Ibaan town in Batangas and assured them of their health safety from COVID-19 during his visit to the municipality May 21, 2020.
“Nauunawaan ko ang inyong pangamba at makakaasa po kayo na hindi kakalat ang COVID-19 sa inyong lugar dahil magiging ligtas at pagbubutihin namin ang pagbabantay at pangangalaga sa kalusugan ng mga kababayan natin na mailalagay sa ating quarantine at isolation facility na nasa inyong bayan, katuwang natin dito ang ating kapulisan at ang inyong lokal na pamahalaan,” he stated during the turn-over and MOA signing ceremony of the Provincial Isolation and Quarantine Facility Isolation Facility for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
He added the isolation facility is located in Barangay Malainin which is far from residential area. “Residents need not to be afraid because it is safe and well-equipped”.
The plan for the conversion of the provincial drug rehabilitation center to an isolation facility was met with protests from residents and local government officials of the town fearing for their health and safety.
According to Director Janairo, plans are already set in motion to establish health facilities in to complete the facility which can also serve residents of nearby barangays in the area.
“Kailangan natin dito ang tulong ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Ibaan upang madagdagan pa ang serbisyong pangkalusugan kasama na dito ang pagsasaayos at pagpapaunlad ng health system ng buong bayan ng Ibaan”.
Janairo aims to have at least one major quarantine facility per province in Calabarzon.
The Municipality of Ibaan recorded 1 confirmed case of COVID-19 who recovered and discharged already as of May 25, 2020.
Ibaan, 96 kilometers south of Metro Manila is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Batangas with a population of 52,970 people based on the 2015 Census of Population. (PIA-4A/DOH CALABARZON)
