Dgte orgs provide transport for SAP recipients
DUMAGUETE CITY, May 6 (PIA) — Several institutions in Dumaguete City have provided buses to ferry thousands of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries to the City Treasurer’s Office even on holidays and weekends.
Heeding the request of Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, buses from Vallacar Transit Inc., Silliman University, Negros Oriental State University, and Metro Dumaguete College deployed their vehicles to help fetch the SAP beneficiaries aside from the service buses of the city government.
These institutions demonstrated their concern and cooperation for an orderly and safe distribution of the financial assistance by batches for easier crowd management and in keeping with social distancing policy, said Remollo.
Only those with face masks and priority numbers can board the buses that are provided with free disinfectant alcohol.
Distributing the SAP benefits in the barangays would encourage residents, even those found not to be qualified, not to overcrowd in their gyms or barangay halls and potentially compromise the security of the cashiers who could only transact with a specified number of claimants at any given time.
Inquiries, disputes and complaints can be heard and responded to in the barangay halls where the officials are present so that the actual distribution of SAP benefits can go on safely and unhampered in the City Treasurer’s Office. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO Dems Demecillo))
