Dgte LYDO holds forum on maximum fund utilization for SK
DUMAGUETE CITY, July 15 (PIA) — The Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Dumaguete City has initiated a forum for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons on the utilization of their respective budgets for the youth projects.
This after the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminded the SK officials to start utilizing their respective budgets in carrying out projects that promote the welfare of the youth.
However, the DILG advised SK chairpersons to open a bank account, preferably in a government-owned bank, registered under the SK to facilitate the fund disbursement.
With this, SK chairpersons from different barangays in the city fielded questions and clarifications with the panel of officials from different agencies on how to open a bank account in order to properly utilize their SK funds.
Speakers during the forum also shared tips on how to maximize the use of their funds consistent with the priority projects that are most needed in their respective barangays.
The SK fund is equivalent to 10 percent of the general fund of the barangay.
Based on estimates, the SK funds per barangay range between P130,000 to P850,000 maximum to be appropriated for projects and activities that promote the welfare and interests of the youth.
LYDO congratulated the SK of Barangay Balugo headed by Hon. Joey Patajo Alcansado for being the pioneer in the opening of an SK bank depository account.
LYDO expressed its appreciation to the heads of the Commission on Audit, Barangay Affairs Office, City Accounting Office, City Budget Office, Liga ng mga Barangay ng Dumaguete, Internal Audit Office, DILG, SK and Barangay Council of Balugo, Dumaguete City for sharing their valuable expertise to improve governance of the various SK councils.
