DA’s distribution of 5k cash aid in La Union nears completion
SAN FERNANDO City, June 7 (PIA) – The distribution of the Php5,000 cash aid to rice farmers in La Union under the Financial Subsidy for Rice Farmers (FSRF) program of the Department of Agriculture (DA-1) is 70 percent done.
As of June 2, some 26,000 rice farmers out of the 36,791 target beneficiaries in the province have already received the financial assistance, said Vida Cacal, regional information officer of the DA-1.
The recent payouts were held in towns of Bangar, Balaoan, San Gabriel, Sudipen and Santol where some 8,000 rice farmers were served.
Distribution is still on-going and they are aiming to disburse all FSRF fund for the 149,489 target recipients in the Ilocos region before the month of June ends.
Cacal informed that they are no longer accepting applicants under the FSRF program since the application had officially ended last May 19.
Moreover, she also shared the different loan programs of DA offering a non-collateralized and interest-free working capital not only to marginalized farmers and fisherfolks, but for the micro and small enterprises engaged in agri-fisheries activities as well.
Through these financing programs, DA aims to assist the farmers who were greatly affected by the implementation of community quarantine amid pandemic while securing the food source of every Filipino.
(JCR/JND/CGC, PIA La Union)
