DA-4A distributes interventions for ASF affected farmers in Cavite
TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite Jul 28, 2020 — The Department of Agriculture IV-A in coordination with the provincial government here thru the Provincial Veterinary Offce recently distributed chicks and veterinary medicines to African Swine Fever (ASF) affected farmers.
DA-IVA Regional Livestock Program Coordinator Ms. Vilma Dimaculangan led the turn-over activity held at the DA Cavite Research and Experiment Station (DA-CARES) in the municipality of Naic.
About 237 farmer beneficiaries from the municipalities of Indang, General Mariano Alvarez, Carmona, Ternate, Magallanes, Maragondon, and Noveleta received chicks, feeds, housing, vitamins and medicines as the DA’s interventions for the livestock raisers to be able to get back on their feet and restart their livelihood.
The recovery and rehabilitation plans were laid out to enable the ASF affected farmers to recover and rise up through a different form of livelihood that will serve as their new source of income.
A similar activity was conducted July 23, 2020 with farmer beneficiaries from the municipalities of Silang, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Amadeo, Naic, Tanza, Alfonso and Mendez. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite/with reports from PICAD)
