DA-10 supports PRLEC launch in Talakag town
TALAKAG, Bukidnon, July 3 (PIA) – In support of the regional launching of the poverty reduction, livelihood and employment programs pursued by the Proverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), the Department of Agriculture (DA)-10 has turned-over farm tractors, corn, rice and vegetable seeds as well as farming tools for the farmers here especially those in Barangay Lantud where the residents mostly belong to the Higaonon-Maranao tribe.
Chaired by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the PRLEC is composed of the different line agencies which responded to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Executive Order (EO) 70, instituting the whole-of-nation approach to end local communisrt armed conflict.
In her message, TESDA-10 Regional Director Tarhata Mapandi expressed her gratitude to the overwhelmening support extended by the member-agencies, as the event was attended by several regional directors and representatives of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria R. Zubiri and the municipal officials of Talakag town.
The farmers received 70 bags of hybrid corn seeds worth P350 thousand, five bags of lowland inbreed rice seeds amounting to P7,950, assorted seeds worth P25 thousand, farm implements and others.
To further bolster the capabilities of Talakag’s IP community in farming, DA-10 also introduced its 4Ks (Kabuhayan, Kaunlaran, ng Kababayan Katutubo) with the turnover of garden tools ranging from sprinklers, light hoes, weeding bolos to organic fertilizers amounting to P37,750.
“The impact of this is, if they can grow, then they’ll have food, on top of personal consumption. They can also sell the excess. We strive to give them food security and income. And another thing, since these are all vegetables, it can also help improve their nutrition,” DA-10 Supervising Agriculturist Audy Maagad said. (VPSBautista/PIA10)
