DA-10 gives another 10K balut eggs to frontliners
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 6 (PIA)–Showing appreciation and support to frontliners, the Department of Agriculture (DA)-10 in partnership with San Miguel Foods, Inc. distributed another 10,000 pieces of balut to various national line agencies in the region as well as to Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).
“Nagahatag na pud ang San Miguel Foods ug 10,000 pieces nga balut chicken eggs. Ang atong gipangtagaan katong mga frontliners nga involved sa COVID-19 response. Ang atong mga hospitals, ang atong mga PNP, ang atong mga miyembro sa media, ang atong mga empleyado ug ang mga attached agencies and also other government agencies nga involved sa prevention sa COVID-19,” OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene Collado said.

Since the COVID-19 contagion, San Miguel Foods already gave out 20,000 balut chicken eggs and 18,000 table eggs to DA-10 which were eventually distributed to frontliners in the region.
The balut chicken eggs provided are incubated eggs (18 days) and frontliners have a choice to either boil it for consumption or have it hatched after three days since it takes 21 days for a chicken egg to hatch.
“Unta sa inyong pag-exercise sa inyong functions, hinaut nga safe mo sa adlaw-adlaw ninyo nga pagtrabaho (As you exercise your functions, we hope that you are safe in your daily tasks),” Collado said.
Among the recipients of the balut eggs include NMMC with 20 trays of balut eggs; Bureau of Plant Industry, 10; National Economic and Development Authority, 10; Department of Health, 10; Philippine National Police, 20; Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, 10; Veterinary Quarantine Service, 10; Philippine Information Agency, 4; Bukidnon frontliners, 166; and DA-10 employees, 80.
Other COVID-19 response of DA-10 includes the distribution of cash assistance to 7,000 farmers in the region at P5,000 each, provision of palay seeds and fertilizers since it is already the start of planting season, and distribution of vegetable seeds to individuals and offices so they can grow their own food.
