March 14, 2021 Uncategorized

BAGUIO CITY, Sept. 13 (PIA) – – The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC)  is   set  to convene  a technical working group that will work on the drafting of the Regional Disaster Response Plan (RDRP) on Pandemics and Emerging/Re-emerging Infectious Diseases.

The RDRP aims to ensure timely, effective and coordinated response to pandemics and other major health emergencies by the RDRRMC at all levels including all instrumentalities by providing support assistance to affected areas or local government units.

The RDRP’s policy will be formulated and conducted based on five key principles namely Prioritizing Human Safety; Consider Social and Economic Factors; Emphasizing Integrated Efforts of all components; Compliance with National and International Agreements and Standards,  and Preparedness and alertness in anticipating worst – case scenarios.

Is  main body will be the Cordillera Regional Disaster Response Plan; Institutional arrangements on strategic and policy level; operational and tactics level and crisis communication; Activation and Deactivation of the plan; and Operational Guidelines and Protocols. The Office of Civil Defense (OCD – CAR) as the lead agency  already conducted an initial coordination meeting for this undertaking.

OCD Regional Director  Albert Mogol , Chairperson of the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Council  presides  a coordination meeting to discuss the crafting of a regional disaster response  plan  on pandemics and emerging/re-emerging infectious diseases.

CRDRRM Chairperson and OCD – CAR Regional Director Albert Mogol said the different CRDRRMC member agencies are already doing very good in implementing their own response plans, and the RDRP will just consolidate all of these into a unified regional response plan, which will serve as operational and tactical guide for timely, effective and coordinated response to pandemics and other major health emergencies.

Writeshop (writing workshop) for  the RDRP formulation is set on September 16 to 18.  TWG members will be divided into groups  to  draft each disaster response cluster’s part in the RDRP.

Mogol  said  the National Task Force has been recognizing Cordillera for its effective and efficient responses, which  is partly attributed  to the committed efforts and synergy of the CRDRRMC/RTF, the LGUs/Local DRRM Councils and the people in the Cordillera.

The CRDRRMC already hasthree RDRPs, one for Hydromet Hazard, one for Earthquake and one for Human – Induced Hazard and Terrorism. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
