COPs can now issue travel authority
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, June 8 (PIA) – – The chiefs of police (COPs) and station commanders (SCs) can now issue travel authority to the locally stranded individuals and for indispensable travels anywhere in the country, Police Brigadier General Angelito Casimiro, regional director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) regional command 2, said.
However, he explained that securing travel authority is still subject to the guidelines set by the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to include presentation of health clearance certificates from municipal or city health office.
“Workers and other people listed as authorized person outside residence do not need to secure travel authority and travel within province shall be permitted without travel authority for indispensable travel such as family emergency, medical emergency, and for humanitarian reason, along with locally stranded individuals and so, there will be no more coordination with LGU-destination,” Casimiro said.
But he made clear that travel authority is needed for travels to another province or other region for indispensable travel and locally stranded individual likewise for non-essential travels.
Previously, the regional director was authorized to issue travel authorities, however, the PNP devised a more convenient way to secure authority to travel by giving authority to all COPs and SCs to issue the document instead of requiring individuals to go to the regional office.
Casimiro also said it is one way to decongest the regional office as a lot of individuals flock everyday at the regional office to secure travel authority.
“All commanders in the ground shall supervise the functionality of their respective established help desks to ensure that requests for travel aut6hroityu are immediately processed, properly coordinated with the LGU destination and eventually issued to the requesting person,” Casimiro said.
He also reminded the public that all travelers without the necessary travel authority will be barred from passing the quarantine checkpoints. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
