CDO marks low critical care utilization with 9.34%

March 14, 2021 Uncategorized

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, July 13 (PIA)–Mayor Oscar Moreno said in a press conference that the city’s handling of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic is ‘doing well’ as the city registered 9.34 percent critical care utilization rate (CCUR) and 16.88 percent case doubling time based on Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler or FASSSTER Philippines for the period July 1-8.

FASSSTER Philippines is an evidence-based, web-based forecast of possible cases and scenarios on the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Moreno explained that if the city’s CCUR is lower than the 30 percent threshold, it means that Cagayan de Oro City is in a better position when it comes to health system capacity that include availability or usage of the intensive care unit (ICU), isolation beds and mechanical ventilators.

On the other hand, Moreno said if the city’s case doubling time is higher than the 7 percent threshold, it shows that the COVID-19 infection in the city is on a slower pace.

Meanwhile, City epidemiologist Dr. Joey Retuya reported two persons who recovered from COVID-19 infection, bringing the city’s total number of recoveries to 19 as of July 11.

These include the 47-year-old man and returning overseas Filipino (ROF) from Upper Nazareth, which was placed under focused containment but was already lifted July 12, and the 22-year-old female locally stranded individual (LSI) from a numbered barangay.

After their second re-swabbing, RT-PCR test results of the two, which was released yesterday, came out negative from coronavirus.(CIO/PIA10)
