BFP 6 personnel test negative for COVID-19
ILOILO CITY, June 18 (PIA) – All the 197 officials and personnel of Bureau of Fire Protection 6 (BFP6) including personnel of the Iloilo Office of the Provincial Fire Marshall and Iloilo City Central Fire Station tested negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during the rapid tests conducted on June 16 at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand here.
BFP 6 Public Information Officer FSINSP Stephen G. Jardeleza said that on the same day, Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests were also administered by the Iloilo City COVID 19 Task Force on the said BFP 6 personnel.
On June 15, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas issued Executive Order No. 091 directing all the BFP 6 personnel, who were on active duty from June 9, to undergo COVID-19 tests after one of its female officers contracted the virus.
The BFP officer identified by the Department of Health 6 as WV No. 144 arrived from Cebu in Iloilo City on June 6 and underwent the RT PCR test. Her RT-PCR test released by the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit on June 13 yielded positive result.
All the concerned BFP 6 personnel have also been put under the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
Jardeleza said the Iloilo City Fire Station Covid Team has conducted decontamination in the building of the BFP Regional Office for three times already after a temporary suspension of their office operation on Monday, June 15.
As provided in the EO No. 091, the BFP regional office and Iloilo City Central Office were placed under a three-day extreme enhanced community quarantine from June 15 until 11:59 P.M. of June 18, 2020. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
