Antique town farmers thank WV DA’s farm implements
ILOILO CITY, July 8 (PIA) – Farmers in San Remegio town in Antique are grateful over the farm equipment provided by the Department of Agriculture 6.
Osorio-I Farmers Association president Norilyn Piano and the members of the Kababaihan Bulig sa Kauswagan, Inc. were thankful for the delivery of two units of hand tractor with prime mover and implements by the Western Visayas’ DA Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) program last June 30.
Piano, in a press release, said that the arrival of the two hand tractors is timely for rainy season has just set-in on their areas.
“We will immediately use these hand tractors to prepare our farms on this first cropping season,” she said.
The provision of the hand tractors with implements is one of the priority interventions identified by the two associations from Barangays Osorio-I and Lapak, San Remigio during their community needs assessment wherein these barangays produce corn, peanut and upland rice.
Piano assured the DA-SAAD officials of Western Visayas that they will maintain and take good care of this intervention because it will be a big help to their farming activities.
The hand tractor was part of the 2019 Rice production intervention package of the project amounting to P258,000.00. (JBG-PIA6/With report from DA 6)
