Anti-terror bill gets support of all LCEs – DILG XI
DAVAO CITY, June 18 (PIA) – Interior and Local Government Regional Director in Davao Region Alex Roldan announced in the One Davao on COVID19 Virtual Presser that the Anti-Terrorism Bill which is now pending the approval of President Rodrigo Roa-Duterte has received full support from all the local chief executives in the region.
“ Dakung kalipay namo sa DILG nga ang mga LCEs diri sa region nakakuha ug draft sa bill ug mihatag sa ilahang full support. ( We are glad in the DILG that our LCEs in the region got and read the draft of the bill and they later expressed full support to the bill.),” said Roldan.
The DILG official urged the public to read the bill and not just listen to the opinion thrown by progressive groups especially questioning its constitutionality.
Roldan said that people should give the bill a chance as provisions are actually balanced and the public need not fear as even government authorities are given heavier sanctions once they are proven to have wrongly apprehended individuals and violated laws.
Roldan also stressed that this bill once enacted into law will spur and strengthen the campaign of the government against local insurgency.
“ Kini muengganyo sa atong mga igsoon nga naa sa bukid, ang mga rebelde, nga munaog kay duna na silay pagsalig sa istrikto nga balaod. ( This bill will encourage our leftist brothers and sisters to surrender and cooperate with the government since they now trust the strict laws of the country.)
One of the Davao Region LCEs who expressed support to the ATB is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who highlighted that with the passing of the bill, “we can better protect the lives of the Filipino people from an enemy that does not have any regard for life, that only has death and destruction on their minds.”
She further called on everyone to continue to be vigilant and do their part in establishing and nurturing a Culture of Security in the city and in the country. (PIA XI/FGM)
