A. Lista builds new facilities  to boost its tourism industry

March 14, 2021 Uncategorized

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao, June 23 (PIA)- -The officials and people of this town are optimistic  that the completion of new tourism facilities especially those located at the Bird Watching Site in Barangay Sto. Domingo will boost their tourism industry and help them recover from  the  effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new amenities at the Bird Watching Site consisting of three restrooms and  three umbrella-type sheds  were inaugurated and blessed earlier this month.

The  new comfort rooms are blessed by Rev. Fr. Robert Dulnuan. (ALista LGU photo)

The  new facilities  were funded under the 20% Development Fund and Supplemental Fund of the municipal government. These are  managed by the local government unit with the strong support of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Agapito Dominguez Jr.

Tourism development is one of the priority programs of the current administration under Mayor Edralin Alipio, who conceptualized the design of the restrooms.

The  municipality is also operating and supervising other tourism destinations like the Municipal Eco-Park and the 1,000 Steps which are all located in Barangay Sto. Domingo.

Before ascending to the summit of the bird watching place, one can enjoy the cool scenery and relax at the Municipal Eco- Park to gather more energy and be able to walk the 1,000 steps and reach the bird watching site to enjoy more of what nature can offer.

These sites in Sto. Domingo  are  frequented by tourists. In fact, several wedding ceremonies and celebrations were already held in these places especially at the top of the bird watching site  with its  awesome views.

However,  the imposition of  community quarantine  due  to  the  COVID-19 pandemic in  mid-March    restricted   transport and  human movements and   temporarily banned  tourism activities.

With the community quarantine slowly easing up, people here  hope the tourism industry would soon pick up. The municipal government has already identified other possible facilities and services to be established at these areas like ziplines,  and  all-terrain vehicles  for more adventure and   satisfaction for  tourists and visitors. (JDP/DBC- PIA CAR, Ifugao
