800 Iloilo households take part in PSA 2020 Labor Force survey

ILOILO CITY, May 1 (PIA) – – A total of 800 households in Iloilo were selected as respondents for the first quarter round of the 2020 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and Consumer and Business Rapid Assessment Survey (CBRAS) which started on April 20.

Philippine Statistics Authority – Iloilo Chief Statistical Specialist  Nelida Amolar said 414 of the identified sample households are from Iloilo City and the 386 from Iloilo Province.

Amolar said the team of PSA personnel and statistical researchers will visit the sample households for the face-to-face interview using the Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) with adherence to physical distancing.

Sample households have also other options to answer the survey, which may either on a Tel-In or telephone interview where they can give their telephone number, Online Questionnaire accessible electronically with a code/link to be provided by PSA, or E-Questionnaire accessible through email with password to be provided by PSA.

Amolar said protocol and guidelines issued by the  Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) are strictly observed during the conduct of the survey.

She said the PSA teams that will be deployed will strictly follow health protocols such as the wearing of face masks or shields, social distancing and proper hygiene. They will also wear the PSA ID.

Through Resolution No. 22 on April 8, 2020, the IATF-EID has granted a go signal to PSA to conduct its data gathering and survey activities related to the impact of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The LFS is a quarterly survey that is used for the estimation of the levels of employment and unemployment of the country.

It has also a rider question related to COVID-19 to evaluate the impact of the disease and the consumer behaviors and patterns and its effect to the labor market during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Data collected will also serve as the basis in the formulation of economic policies and programs to stimulate and regain from the economic crisis brought about by COVID-19 (JBG/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
